Aussie FMX legend, Robbie ‘Maddo’ Maddison secured third place in the 28 Red Bull X-Fighters overall standings after a thrilling second place victory in the World Series final which took place on Saturday, 6 September at the legendary Stadion X-lecia
Former Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael collected the second X Games gold medal of his career when he out-dueled Ronnie Renner for the win Friday night inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Renner rode up an 18-foot quarterpipe and made a sweeping, 180-degree arc that brought him down onto a landing ramp measuring 25 feet high and 64 feet wide.

Renner is a respected freestyle motocross veteran, will attempt to establish the Guinness World Record for highest air ever attained on a motorcycle. This kind of attempt is not something Renner is known for as he seemed to be more focused on style, highlighted by huge whips, rather than risk-taking, Renner assures everyone that he’s ready to soar into freestyle fame. “My whole career has been shaping up to do something unique like this,” he said. “I feel like the sport needs it. I don’t want to just be a trick guy. This is where my heart is at.”
Robbie Maddison (AUS) had to learn the dangers of extreme rodeo riding the hard way in his semi-final against Jeremy Stenberg. The Australian FMX star fell heavily on the huge course featuring seven kickers and a ten-meter-high quarterpipe. “I landed hard after pulling a Backflip Cordova and my kneecap popped out. I couldn’t bend the joint anymore so I was forced to quit the competition straight away. On the way back to the riders’ camp it popped back in on its own. Now I’m really going to go for it at the next Red Bull X-Fighters event.”
If your just starting out in FMX don’t make the mistake of cutting your plastics until you are at the point of doing the tricks that require the cuts. All you will acheive is getting more water and dirt where its not supposed to get to on your dirtbike, not to mention you.
